Dynasty Stud: D'Andre Swift

D'Andre Swift has been a dynasty-community darling for awhile now. Georgia has had a great history of producing prolific NFL running backs from Herschel Walker to Terrell Davis, to more recently, Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb. Swift is the most recent, and his rookie season proved he is on his way to a being one of the better running backs in the league.

Swift's rookie statline looked like this:

During his rookie campaign, Swift managed to score 11+ fantasy points in 10 out of 13 games. He scored 15+ points in 7 of those games. He missed 3 games due to a concussion, but on a points per game basis, he was the overall RB18. Not amazing, but definitely good. He put in a mid-RB2 season. These are the types of things you want to see out of your rookies.

What can we expect moving forward?

The Lions have made some big moves this offseason. They fired former GM Bob Quinn, and head coach Matt Patricia, and replaced them with former Director of College Scouting, Brad Holmes and former Saints TE Coach, Dan Campbell. Holmes is seen as a promising talent who was integral in helping the Rams draft Pro Bowlers Aaron Donald, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Cooper Kupp and Cory Littleton. His biggest move so far has been the Blockbuster trade with his former employer in swapping longterm Lions' QB Matt Stafford and a plethora of draft picks. The hiring of Campbell on the other hand has raised some eyebrows however given that he's never been more than an assistant coach. He did have a short run as interim head coach in Miami in 2015.

From his press conference, Campbell made it known that the Lions will embody the "Blue Collar" spirit of the city. What I gathered from that press conference is this team will look like a run-balanced style team that wins with ball control and defense similar to what we see on division-rivals Minnesota. That style has proved amazing for Dalvin Cook and could be really good for Swift, who has already received praise from running back coach Duce Staley who has been a fan of his since watching him in high school. "He has some special traits, I can't wait to get my hands on him. I'm excited about that."

It appears to me that Swift will be given the keys to that backfield and I expect him to thrive. While he's only 5'8", his stocky 87th percentile BMI will help him shoulder a 3-down workload. He has one of the better offensive lines in the league to run behind. The only knocks on Swift's upside is the offenses ability to score behind new quarterback Jared Goff. Last season the Rams finished in the bottom 10 in scoring. That's the only concern I have holding Swift back from being an RB1 next season and moving forward. However his likely increased workload can overcome that.

I expect BIG things from the well-rounded former Bulldog, and am excited to see what he can do moving forward.
