Week 14 Lineup Advice
by Jacob Rhodes
✅ STARTS
- Baker Mayfield
- Vegas gives up the 3rd most fantasy points in Adjusted Points Allowed
- Baker only has 4 games this season where he’s finished outside of the top 10
- Vegas is bottom 10 in passing TDs allowed per game
- Jameis Winston
- Pass attempts, check. Game script, check. Fantasy points, check.
- Jameis is the QB2 the last 3 weeks, 22.7 PPG
- Had a down game for him against Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago, but that was the snow game and he was still serviceable
- Sam Darnold
- Has thrown multiple TDs in 5/6 games. Atlanta gives up the 7th most passing TDs per game this year
- Averaging nearly 250 pass yards per game in his Last 10 contests
- Matthew Stafford
- Tough matchup for sure, but I would expect the Rams to be chasing points in this game
- Stafford should throw a ton and has thrown multiple passing touchdowns in 5 of his last 6 games
- Calvin Ridley
- Leads the league in air yards
- Since Hopkins left, Ridley averages 8.5 targets and 82.7 receiving yards per game
- Jacksonville has the worst pass defense in the league, gives up the 3rd most fantasy points per game to wide receivers
- Darnell Mooney
- Great matchups across the board against Minnesota’s secondary (per PFF shadow coverage report)
- It’s been a rough 2 weeks but Mooney averages 76 receiving yards in his last 5 games vs bottom 10 defenses for receiving yards allowed (Minnesota is 3rd worst)
- Jakobi Meyers
- Top 10 fantasy matchup
- 6+ receptions in 6/8 games. Tampa gives up the most receptions per game in the league
- Meyers has averaged 77.8 receiving yards per game in his last 6 contests vs bottom 10 defense in receiving yards allowed (Tampa is 3rd worst)
- Jerry Jeudy
- I don’t think anyone is planning on sitting Jeudy after last weeks performance, but this is just a reminder that he’s a MUST START
- 70+ receiving yards in 5 straight games
- Braelon Allen
- Breece Hall downgraded to doubtful
- Should see a full workload with Breece out and no suitable RBs behind him
- Tyrone Tracy
- Saints give up 136 rush yards per game (7th most)
- Carries have been down, but receiving volume has gone up. Saints are also 5th worst against the pass
- Najee Harris
- Averaging nearly 80 rush yards in his last 6 home games
- Cleveland is bottom half of the league in fantasy points given up to RBs
- 16+ carries in 6 straight games
- Tony Pollard
- Jacksonville allows the 3rd most receptions per game to RBs this year
- Jacksonville is bottom 10 in rush yards allowed
- Mike Gesicki
- 4+ receptions in L4/5 games
- Jake Ferguson
- Pivot to Schoonmaker if Ferguson misses
- Bengals give up the 2nd most fantasy points to Tight Ends over the past 4 weeks
- Cade Otton
- Raiders have struggled against TE’s all year
- Mike Evans hasn’t been practicing
- Targets will be there, he should find success
- Will Dissly
- The tight end position is where Kansas City has been beatable all year
- Chiefs give up the 5th most fantasy points per game to TEs
- Put up a goose last week but had 4+ catches in 6/7 games before then
❌SITS
- Justin Herbert
- Matchup is bad
- Ladd is banged up
- Chargers have one of the lowest implied point totals this week
- Geno Smith
- Only 2 multiple passing TD games this year, hard to believe
- DK is banged up, Walker is banged up
- QB20 the last time he played Arizona and that was at home
- Caleb Williams
- San Fran gives up the least pass yards in the league since week 9
- This isn’t the same SF dominant defense we know, but it poses a unique threat to a rookie QB
- DJ Moore and D’Andre Swift were just downgrade to questionable
- Kirk Cousins
- I almost had Kirk as a start this week. Matchup is solid, it’s a revenge game, fun narrative.
- But he looks flat out awful the past month. 0 passing touchdowns the last 3 weeks and 6 interceptions.
- I still trust Mooney will have a good game, but I can’t see a massive performance from Cousins at this point.
- Chuba Hubbard
- Brutal matchup this week
- Bottom 5 matchup, Eagles are stout against the run and should be leading this whole game
- Brooks was more involved last week too, which led to Chuba having ZERO receiving volume last week
- Nick Chubb
- It hurts to say and see, but Chubb looks toast
- 3 games without a TD this year, and in those games, he hasn’t scored more than 5.2 points
- Had 19 against Pittsburgh in the snow game, but he had 2 rushing TDs. Only averaged 2.95 per carry. He’s TD or bust.
- Gus Edwards
- Many trusted the new starter in LAC last week and it didn’t go well
- This week may be worse against KC, the best team against the run this year
- Gus had just 7 opportunities last week, even on his highest snap count of the season
- Rachaad White
- It’s the Bucky Irving show in Tampa now. It’s over for White.
- White has just 33% of the rush share the past 2 weeks
- But he’s always saved you in the receiving game, right? Wrong. Just TWO targets the past 2 weeks.
- Bucky is questionable this week, but he should play. And if he does, you can’t start White.
- Deebo Samuel
- WHAT HAPPENED TO DEEBO?!?
- WR49 this year. Less than 10 points per game on average. Less than 7 his last 3 weeks. 22 or LESS receiving yards in 3 straight.
- Has been a top 20 WR once since week 4
- Jaylen Waddle
- Well that WR3 week was fun, but Waddle was WR36 last week and saw his opportunities cut in half
- This week, he hasn’t the toughest matchup for fantasy WRs
- It’s been a little easier going against the Jets for WRs the past month, but still bottom half of the league
- I can’t trust a WR who has only been top 35 twice all season. WR40 on the year.
- DK Metcalf
- I know most won’t have better options this week, I am in the same spot.
- But this matchup stinks for DK. Not to mention, he’s been banged up all week.
- Cardinals have only allowed 1 TD to WRs since WEEK 7. They are number 6 against WRs the past 6 weeks.
- And the scariest stat… Metcalf has never had 60+ receiving yards in his career against Arizona.
- Adam Thielen
- Last week was promising, but it’s this matchup. You can’t trust him this week.
- Since Philly’s week 5 bye, they give up the fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position
- They also give up the 6th fewest yards to slot WRs this year, which is where Thielen spends most of his time.
- Don’t chase the points.
- Kyle Pitts
- 13.4 fantasy points. That’s his total.. in the last FOUR weeks.
- That’s right after being a top 13 Tight End for 5 straight weeks.
- You can’t start him right now, and you may be better dropping him and leaving him for someone else to deal with
- Cole Kmet
- You just can’t trust him in fantasy right now. 1 top 12 finish in the last 6 weeks.
- He’s on the field a ton, but only has 1 game with more than 4 targets and it looks like a huge outlier.
- Also has a bottom 5 matchup against San Fran
- TJ Hockenson
- Atlanta is allowing the 3rd fewest fantasy points to tight ends over the last 4 weeks
- His snap count is going up and he seems to be getting his feet back under him, but this is a matchup I would prefer to fade
- Juwan Johnson
- With Taysom Hill being out for the year, I think the obvious thing to do is look Johnson’s way
- He did tie the team lead in targets last year (7), but he only has double digit fantasy points twice all year
- And the Giants are actually the worst matchup for Tight Ends in fantasy this year
